Description

THEVIRUS Mid-Length 85L is infected with adrenaline.

Built for progressive wingfoilers who want early lift, smooth control, and a board that reacts instantly when you push the pace. The mid-length outline keeps takeoffs efficient and landings forgiving, while staying fast and lively once you’re flying.

At just 3.9 kg, it’s among the lightest boards on the market—thanks to our proprietary hollow construction technology, developed in-house by THEVIRUS. Less weight in your hands, less swing weight in turns, more speed, more precision, more stoke.

I tested the 85L version of this board today, and honestly, first impression right away: 3.8 kg for that volume is just insane. It’s a 1.72 m board that really feels like it weighs half of what you’d normally expect for that size. On the water, it’s super easy to get used to. The first thing that stands out is how light it feels under your feet. Because of that, pumping with your legs becomes really easy, and take-off happens effortlessly. Can’t wait to try it paired with the 6.5 The Virus wing, which pumps really well too. Once you’re up and cruising, especially when hooked in, the feeling is pretty amazing. It almost feels like you’re no longer connected to the board, but directly to the foil. It’s super smooth and light, to the point where it feels like you’re riding a board with 20 liters less under your feet. Even on jumps (I didn’t do many since I was riding a race foil), that light feeling is still very much there, despite the weight of the foil. Another really noticeable point is the stability and how easy it is to climb back onto the board. The shape is quite similar to a Gong Crusader Diamond 5’10, but I clearly found the The Virus much more stable. And that’s with less volume (85L vs 92L for the Gong). When standing still, without wind, it floats better and keeps me more stable. To sum it up, it’s simple: this is probably the best investment I’ve made so far when it comes to boards. If I had one piece of advice—if you can, just go for it.
